Malmsey Mambo - ceramic bowl, pottery bowl, hand built ceramic bowl, hand painted bow., sgraffito decoration, with slab runners and boss additions to the pinched rim.
Painted with red earth and Kentucky River native clay (that I mined from my back yard) terra sigillata. Stamped with black underglaze color, then sgraffito drawn. Clear glazed. Food safe should you choose to use it for food.
10 1/2" x 9 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Signed and dated.
While it is food safe, the dancing shape may prove troublesome for serving anything liquid. If you choose to use Malmsey Mambo to serve food, please hand wash and dry. It would probably be alright on the top shelf of the dishwasher, but I couldn't say for sure. The detergent used in dishwashers etches glass and glazed items over time. If you really care about something - hand wash it.
MALMSEY-the sweetest variety of Madeira wine.
MAMBO- you know...the dance with the infectious rhythm.
And there you have it - a bowl that dances! I hope you are having as much fun!
If you wish to make installment payments please contact me for instructions.
If you have any questions about the bowl, the process, or the exhibition history of the piece, please do not hesitate to ask
